The Rise of Memnon

In ancient Gomorrah, before the pyramids, the warlord Memnon is conquering tribes with the aid of Cassandra, a sorceress who can foresee his enemies’ strategies. Remaining free tribes unite and hire Mathayus, an Akkadian assassin, to eliminate Cassandra and break Memnon’s winning streak. Mathayus is known for his unparalleled skill and cunning in combat.

💥 The Scorpion King Reviews

Personal Review

I remember seeing The Scorpion King in theaters back in the day and being absolutely thrilled! The Rock was awesome, the action was non-stop, and Kelly Hu was stunning. Sure, the plot’s a bit silly, and the CGI hasn’t aged well, but it’s still a fun movie to throw on when I want to switch off my brain. The fight between The Rock and Michael Clarke Duncan is still epic! And I’ll admit, I was totally rooting for Mathayus and Cassandra – their chemistry was surprisingly good. If you’re looking for a serious film, look elsewhere, but if you want some good old-fashioned adventure, this is it.

    • “Mild language”

Professional Reviews

  • Empire Magazine: “The Scorpion King isn’t high art, but it delivers on its promise of action-packed, brain-dead fun. The Rock proves he can carry a film, and the fight choreography is surprisingly decent. Don’t expect Shakespeare, just enjoy the ride.
  • Rotten Tomatoes: “While Dwayne Johnson has charisma to burn, The Scorpion King’s derivative plot and reliance on CGI-heavy action sequences fail to elevate it beyond a passable popcorn flick. A fun watch but definitely not a movie to write home about.
  • BBC: “The Scorpion King is pure escapism that sacrifices logic and historical accuracy for explosions and bare skin. While Johnson has presence, the script is weak and the villain uninspired. Best enjoyed with lowered expectations.
