🍿 Venom: The Last Dance: Detailed Plot Synopsis
Escaping to Mexico
Following the events of the previous film, Eddie Brock and Venom find themselves in Mexico. They are on the run after being framed for the murder of Detective Mulligan. Eddie and Venom seek to lie low while figuring out their next move. They are unaware of the looming threat from Venom’s home world that is about to descend upon them.

The Threat of Knull and the Xenophages
Knull, the creator of the symbiotes, is imprisoned and seeks to break free. He dispatches Xenophages, creatures designed to hunt symbiotes and retrieve a “Codex.” This Codex holds the key to Knull’s freedom. Venom realizes that he and Eddie possess this Codex due to Venom’s previous resurrection of Eddie, making them prime targets.

Area 51 and Imperium
Rex Strickland, a military leader overseeing a secretive operation called Imperium at Area 51, becomes aware of the symbiote threat. Imperium is dedicated to capturing and studying symbiotes. Strickland seeks to eliminate Venom and Eddie to prevent Knull’s release, seeing them as a major danger.

Road Trip to Las Vegas
While attempting to flee to New York, Eddie and Venom encounter Martin Moon and his family, a group of eccentric alien enthusiasts. The Moon family offers Eddie and Venom a ride to Las Vegas, as they are on their way to Area 51. During the trip, Eddie forms a bond with Leaf Moon and tries to convince him that aliens don’t exist.

Okay, so I went into this expecting a fun, dumb movie, and I got pretty much that. The Eddie/Venom banter is still hilarious, and I loved seeing Venom control random animals. The plot gets pretty wild, and the ending was a bit of a tearjerker, even though I knew it was coming. Definitely a good popcorn flick if you don’t take it too seriously.

Professional Reviews
- Showbiz Junkies: “Venom: The Last Dance is a chaotic and poorly-scripted mess, saved only by Hardy’s performance. The narrative feels disjointed, and the supporting characters are forgettable. The CGI action is a headache-inducing blur. Fans of the series may find something to enjoy in the Eddie/Venom dynamic, but overall, it’s a disappointing finale.
- The Hollywood Reporter: “While Tom Hardy continues to deliver a fun performance as Eddie Brock and Venom, Venom: The Last Dance falters due to its weak plot and reliance on tired jokes. The action sequences are unremarkable, and the new characters fail to make a lasting impression. The film aims for emotional depth but falls short, making it a mediocre conclusion to the trilogy.
- IMDB: “A very middle of the road to me. Definitely better than the second one, but not as good as the original. I enjoyed the beginning very much. Nice pace, good story and funny at times. Also the last part was packed with action and it all looked amazing. Only thing I missed was some sort of a climax at the very end. The middle however, I did not care for too much. Some things felt forced, rushed and very unlikely.

🤨 FAQ
While Venom: The Last Dance is currently billed as the final film in the Venom trilogy, the ending leaves the door open for future installments. The presence of the Venom sample and Knull’s declaration suggest the story is not entirely concluded. Sony has not officially announced any plans for a Venom 4.
While there have been hints and crossovers between the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Venom: The Last Dance primarily exists within the SSU. The mid-credits scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage briefly showed Eddie in the MCU, but he was quickly returned to his own universe. The degree of future MCU involvement remains uncertain.
Knull is the creator and god of the symbiotes. He seeks to escape his imprisonment and bring darkness to the universe. In “Venom: The Last Dance”, he is mostly a looming threat sending Xenophages to retrieve the Codex. The movie teases more about his powers.
The Codex is essentially the ‘genetic memory’ or life-force connection created when a symbiote resurrects a host. In this movie, it’s key to unlocking Knull’s prison. Since Venom resurrected Eddie in the first film, they unknowingly possess the Codex, making them a target.
