Personal Review

Okay, I won’t lie. Jaws 3 is not a cinematic masterpiece. But I have a soft spot for this movie. As a kid, I loved the SeaWorld setting and the underwater kingdom concept! The 3D shark was unintentionally hilarious, especially the ending. The acting is so bad it’s good, I enjoyed it when I was younger. I will always look at this movie with fun memories.

Professional Reviews

  • IMDB: “The shark is as stiff as cardboard. The effects are bad and it has an idiotic story. It manages to be both boring and ridiculous at the same time. The 3D is gimmicky and adds nothing to the experience. But hey, at least there’s some unintentional humor to be found!
  • Rotten Tomatoes: “Lacking the suspense and thrills of its predecessors, Jaws 3 dives into absurdity with its silly 3D effects and a plot that strains credibility. The cast does their best, but they can’t salvage this deeply flawed sequel. The story makes no sense, but it is what it is!

Audience Reactions

The SeaWorld setting was a fun and unique change of pace for the franchise.: Many viewers found the 3D effects to be dated and comical, but some appreciated the campy fun.

Louis Gossett Jr.’s performance, though sometimes over-the-top, was a highlight for many viewers.: Some viewers enjoyed the movie as a ‘so bad it’s good’ guilty pleasure.

Overall Consensus: Jaws 3 is widely considered the weakest of the Jaws sequels, with dated effects and a questionable plot. It has achieved a cult following for being a terrible-but-funny movie.
