💥 Feardotcom Reviews
Personal Review
Okay, so I watched this with the lights off, expecting a good scare. Instead, I mostly got confused. The visuals were creepy, I’ll give it that, but the plot felt like it was trying way too hard to be edgy and smart. Stephen Dorff looked like he was phoning it in, and I spent most of the time wondering what was actually happening, and frankly, I felt like it just didn’t make much sense. A lot of the story didn’t add up.

Professional Reviews
- IMDb: “A stylish but ultimately empty horror film. It’s visually interesting, with a dark and gloomy atmosphere. But the plot is nonsensical and the characters are forgettable. It feels like a music video with gore. Dorff and McElhone do their best, but the script fails them. Rea is wasted, the whole thing has a derivative feel and a rip-off. The Ring does it better.
- IMDb: “Feardotcom is a mess. Incoherant plot. A ripoff of Ringu. Flashy camera work. The plot is loose and the end result that there is no real tension to speak of, certainly no fear. The acting is average. Dorff does nothing to really speak of. Likewise McElhone easily slips into scream queen mode. Rea’s evil doctor was OK but not expanded on at all or used well at any point. The support cast of victims all run round scared (or bleeding) as required
Audience Reactions
The visuals were pretty cool, even if the movie as a whole was confusing.: Some found the dark and stylized cinematography to be the film’s only redeeming quality.
Some enjoyed the movie’s intensity: The plot had potential to be something more that it became
Overall Consensus: Feardotcom is generally considered a poorly executed horror film with confusing plot and derivitive. It fails to capitalize on it’s premise.
