Poppy’s Deadly Game

Poppy Adams (Julianne Moore), the leader of the Golden Circle drug cartel, announces that she has laced all of her drugs with a deadly toxin. This toxin causes users to develop blue rashes, followed by mania, paralysis, and ultimately death. She offers the antidote only if the President of the United States legalizes all drugs and grants her immunity. 💥 Kingsman: The Golden Circle Reviews

Personal Review

Okay, so I loved the first Kingsman! It was so fresh and fun, but this one felt…different. The action was still crazy cool, especially the taxi chase, but the plot felt all over the place. I did enjoy seeing Harry back, even with the amnesia storyline – that was pretty wild. And Elton John? Absolutely hilarious! Overall, it’s a fun watch if you don’t take it too seriously, but it doesn’t quite capture the magic of the first film for me. I miss the clever wit.

Professional Reviews

  • Entertainment Weekly: “Kingsman: The Golden Circle delivers more of the over-the-top action and irreverent humor that made the original a hit, but it struggles to balance its sprawling cast and convoluted plot. The action sequences are undeniably creative and energetic, but the story ultimately feels bloated and unfocused.
  • Rolling Stone: “While not as fresh as the first, ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ still packs a punch with its stylish action, memorable villains, and the sheer audacity of its plot. It’s a flawed but undeniably entertaining ride that knows exactly what kind of movie it wants to be.
  • Empire: “Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ is bigger, louder, and more ridiculous than its predecessor, but it lacks the original’s charm and wit. The action is undeniably inventive, but the story feels overstuffed and the new characters fail to make a lasting impression.

Audience Reactions

Elton John’s performance as himself was surprisingly hilarious and a major highlight.: The over-the-top action sequences and comedic moments were generally well-received.

Many viewers felt the film was too long and convoluted, with too many subplots.: The return of Colin Firth as Harry Hart was a welcome surprise for many fans.

Overall Consensus: A visually stunning and action-packed sequel that doesn’t quite live up to the original due to its convoluted plot and reliance on over-the-top absurdity.

  • “The filmmakers edited out several anti-Trump references in the film, including a line about hosting ‘The Apprentice’ and a gold-themed Oval Office, to avoid alienating half the audience.”
