Some parts felt a little uneven, but overall, it was a fun, ridiculous ride. I laughed a lot, and sometimes that’s all I need from a movie. Plus, seeing Ray Liotta in one of his last roles was bittersweet.

Professional Reviews

  • Variety: “Cocaine Bear delivers exactly what it promises: a wild, gory, and darkly humorous ride. While the plot is thin and the characters are underdeveloped, the sheer absurdity of the premise and the commitment of the cast make for an entertaining, albeit somewhat shallow, cinematic experience. Don’t expect depth, but do expect mayhem.
  • The Hollywood Reporter: “Elizabeth Banks leans into the absurdity of the concept, resulting in some genuinely funny moments. Unfortunately, the film struggles to balance its comedic and horror elements, often feeling tonally inconsistent. While the gore is plentiful, the scares are few and far between, and the humor can be hit-or-miss.
  • IGN: “Cocaine Bear is a gloriously ridiculous creature feature that knows exactly what it is. The gore is plentiful, the humor is dark, and the premise is bonkers. However, the plot is thin, and the characters are largely forgettable, preventing it from reaching its full potential.

Audience Reactions

The ambulance scene was the highlight, hilarious and over-the-top.: Most viewers found the movie entertaining and a fun, mindless experience.

The bear’s CGI was surprisingly good.: Many viewers praised the bear’s CGI and practical effects, especially the gore

Overall Consensus: Cocaine Bear is a fun, gory, and ridiculous creature feature that delivers on its absurd premise, but lacks depth and consistent comedic timing. It provides an exciting cinematic experience that doesn’t insult intelligence.
