🍿 Getaway: Detailed Plot Synopsis
The Kidnapping and The Voice’s Demands
Former race car driver Brent Magna returns home to find his wife, Leanne, kidnapped. He receives a call from a mysterious man known only as ‘The Voice’ who instructs him to steal a specific Shelby Super Snake Mustang and follow his orders to save his wife’s life. The car is equipped with cameras and microphones, allowing ‘The Voice’ to monitor Brent’s every move. Brent is warned that any disobedience will result in Leanne’s death.

Joining Forces with The Kid
During one of his tasks, Brent encounters a young woman known only as ‘The Kid,’ the original owner of the stolen Mustang. She tries to carjack him, but ‘The Voice’ orders Brent to take her along. ‘The Kid,’ a skilled hacker, discovers the cameras and the extent of the situation. Initially reluctant, she begins to help Brent, using her technical skills to evade the police and uncover ‘The Voice’s’ plans.

Escalating Tasks and Conspiracy
As Brent completes increasingly dangerous tasks, including causing chaos in public places and disabling a power plant, ‘The Kid’ realizes that they are being framed for a larger crime. She discovers that the crashes and power outages are part of a plan to facilitate a bank robbery orchestrated by ‘The Voice.’ They realize they are expendable and that The Voice never intended to let Leanne go.

💥 Getaway Reviews
Personal Review
Okay, so I went into this movie knowing it wasn’t going to be a cinematic masterpiece, but wow. The car chases were literally non-stop. It felt like they just filmed a bunch of car crashes and then tried to string a plot around it. There were a few moments where I was like, ‘Okay, that’s kinda cool,’ but mostly I just felt exhausted by the end. Ethan Hawke did his best, but even he couldn’t save it.
