Tony Stark’s Capture

Billionaire industrialist Tony Stark, known for his weapons manufacturing, is captured by terrorists in Afghanistan. He sustains a serious chest injury, with shrapnel threatening his heart. Fellow captive, Yinsen, implants an electromagnet powered by a car battery to keep the shrapnel away, saving Stark’s life. This forces Stark to confront the consequences of his weapons dealing.

The Creation of Iron Man

Under duress from his captors, Tony, along with Yinsen, begins building a powerful suit of armor. They secretly miniaturize the battery powering Tony’s electromagnet into an arc reactor and use this to power the suit. This results in a primitive but powerful suit that allows Tony to escape from the cave, demonstrating his inventive genius and will to survive.

He develops new advanced tech, such as a more streamlined suit and improved arc reactor.
