Personal Review

I have a soft spot for Krull. It’s not perfect, and parts of it are undeniably cheesy, but it just oozes 80s fantasy charm. The Glaive is an awesome weapon, and the Fire Mares are seriously cool. The cast, with faces like Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane before they were huge, adds a layer of nostalgia. It’s a fun ride from start to finish. Don’t take it too seriously, just enjoy it.

Professional Reviews

  • Slash Film: “Krull might not be a masterpiece, but it’s a visual treat with inventive creature designs and a surprisingly epic scope for a fantasy film. While the plot borrows heavily from other sources, the execution is charming and the world-building is impressive.
  • N/A: “Krull is a good fantasy-adventure with a British flavour, offering sheer pleasure of watching medieval men fighting seemingly unstoppable alien warriors. The plot is similar to Star Wars, but the movie doesn’t hesitate to be silly and poke fun at itself in quintessentially British fashion.
  • N/A: “Krull is a gem from the Fantasy Boom of the 80’s. What separates this fantasy film from the others is a plot involving a more science fiction- type element. Visitors from somewhere in space have landed on a planet named Krull to wreak havoc. Good time fun worth the rental price.
