Rick Marshall’s Disgrace

Dr. Rick Marshall, a paleontologist with unconventional theories about time warps, is ridiculed by Matt Lauer on national television, leading to the downfall of his career. He ends up teaching science at a museum. Marshall believes that time warps exist and can be used to solve the world’s energy crisis. He is convinced that tachyon energy can be harnessed to travel through time and space.

💥 Land of the Lost Reviews

Personal Review

Okay, look, I went into this expecting a train wreck, and that’s pretty much what I got. But there’s a certain kind of ‘so bad it’s good’ charm to it, especially if you’re a Will Ferrell fan. The T-Rex was surprisingly awesome, and Danny McBride delivers some solid laughs. Overall I found it oddly entertaining.

Professional Reviews

  • Rotten Tomatoes: “Despite Will Ferrell’s best efforts, Land of the Lost is an uninspired, unfunny mess that fails to capture the charm or wit of the original TV series. It relies too heavily on crude humor and uninspired gags, leaving audiences lost in a prehistoric wasteland of disappointment.
  • IMDB: “As a kid, the original Land of the Lost TV series was a great live-action Saturday morning show. This take on the story is a parody on the original story, with the same basic concept, but a more humorous storyline, but the film lacks comedic cohesion and resorts to Ferrell carrying most of the load.
  • Simon Says Movies: “Land of the Lost is the unholy bastard child of this years earlier cringe-fest Night at the Museum 2. In not being utterly incompetent it creates a twisted void that is not deserving of outward contempt but is almost worse as a result. It’s likely unclear of what I am trying to convey so I will be blunt and simply tell you not to go see this movie. Unless you want a nap.

Audience Reactions

The T-Rex was surprisingly awesome!: Danny McBride had some good lines.

Overall Consensus: A critically panned film that still has some charm.
