Professional Reviews

  • Variety: “While visually impressive, ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’ relies too heavily on pop culture references and lacks the emotional depth of Pixar’s best. The action sequences are engaging, but the story feels predictable and the characters underdeveloped.
  • Common Sense Media: “A fun but formulaic animated adventure with plenty of action and humor, though some jokes may go over kids’ heads. The strong female lead is a plus, but the predictable plot keeps it from being a classic.
  • RogerEbert.com: “‘Monsters vs. Aliens’ is a visually dazzling but ultimately shallow experience. The 3D effects are impressive, but the story lacks originality and the characters are mostly one-dimensional. Seth Rogen’s B.O.B. provides some laughs, but the rest of the cast feels underutilized.
