Personal Review

I went into this movie hoping for a fun, twisty ride like the first one, but honestly, it felt a bit flat. The magic tricks were cool, sure, but the plot got so convoluted that I stopped caring about who was doing what to whom. The card-throwing scene was a highlight, though! And Lizzy Caplan was a welcome addition to the team. Overall, entertaining but not amazing.

Professional Reviews

  • Variety: “While ‘Now You See Me 2’ offers visual spectacle, it lacks the narrative coherence of the original. The cast is charismatic, but the plot twists become convoluted and strain credibility, ultimately making the experience less magical.
  • The Hollywood Reporter: “This sequel amps up the visual effects, but the story feels like a rehash of the first film. While the performances are generally solid, the script’s reliance on improbable scenarios undermines any sense of genuine suspense or intrigue.

Audience Reactions

The card-passing heist scene was super creative and exciting.: Many viewers enjoyed the over-the-top magic and action sequences.

Lizzy Caplan brought a fresh, fun energy to the team.: The cast chemistry remained a strong point, despite some plot issues.

Overall Consensus: While visually engaging, ‘Now You See Me 2’ suffers from a convoluted plot and struggles to recapture the magic of the original.
