💥 The Quick and the Dead Reviews
Personal Review
I love how Sam Raimi took the classic Western and cranked up the style! The camera work is wild, the action is over-the-top, and the cast is phenomenal. Seeing Sharon Stone as a gunslinger was unexpected but she owns the role, and Gene Hackman is the perfect villain. The final showdown is pure Raimi madness. It’s definitely a movie that gets better with each viewing. The flashbacks are confusing at times, but the overall experience is memorable. One of my personal favorites.

Professional Reviews
- ScreenRant: “Sam Raimi brought his signature style to the Western genre with ‘The Quick and the Dead’. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman, and utilizes creative cinematography, but it could not find its audience upon release. It is now being rediscovered as one of the most unique Westerns of its time.
- IMDb: “The movie uses lot’s of ingredients used in classic westerns in a fun way without spoofing the classic westerns and it never becomes humorous or a parody that makes fun of the genre. Who would have known, Sharon Stone is a believable cowgirl. The movie also features both Russell Crow and Leonardo DiCaprio before their days of fame and big Dollars.
- N/A: “The Quick and the Dead is the tombstone that marked the end of the second chapter of Raimi’s ascension to A-list status. The film boasts an impressive cast, but the director has a fetish for close up shots of bad teeth. The story was weak and the performances uninspired.
