💥 You Don’t Mess with the Zohan Reviews

Personal Review

Okay, so Zohan is ridiculous. I went in knowing it was going to be over-the-top Adam Sandler, and that’s exactly what I got. I laughed a lot, especially at the crazy action scenes and the running jokes about hummus. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s a fun, silly movie that doesn’t take itself seriously. If you’re looking for a brainless comedy, this might be for you. The scene where he uses his feet to cut hair, and then ‘makes the boom-boom’ with the old ladies was hilarious. But I can see why some people would be offended. It’s absurd, really. I mean, the Israeli Palestinian conflict is a serious thing, and there’s Sandlar making light of it. But it’s worth seeing for the campy comedic value alone.

    • “Fans of Adam Sandler’s comedic style”
    • “Viewers who enjoy slapstick and silly humor”
    • “People who appreciate satirical comedies with a message of tolerance”
  • Content warnings ⚠:
    • “Crude humor”
    • “Sexual innuendo”
    • “Stereotypical portrayals”
    • “Some violence”

Professional Reviews

  • IMDB: “A daring and imaginative comedy, but beyond the basic design of the film the material is pretty much what you would expect from an Adam Sandler film in so much as it is crude, silly and aimed at a teenage market. Sandler’s crotch area seems to get more screen time than the leading actress. It is silly and if you are in the mode it is quite fun but if you are looking for anything more than that then you’ll be disappointed.
  • Rotten Tomatoes: “Zohan isn’t a normal secret agent; he’s a walking caricature of crass Middle Eastern stereotypes and snickering vulgarity. The film is amazingly hostile and mean-spirited, mocking its targets with unfiltered scorn for the majority of the running time, yet tacking on a ‘we’re all the same’ message at the end.

Audience Reactions

The over-the-top action sequences and Sandler’s physical comedy were hilarious.: Most viewers enjoyed the film as a silly, light-hearted escape, despite its crude humor and stereotyping.

Overall Consensus: Zohan is a divisive comedy with some finding it hilarious and others finding it offensive and juvenile. If you are a fan of Adam Sandler’s brand of humor you may find this movie to be exactly what the doctored ordered, a way for people to laugh at themselves and to learn not to take life so seriously.
